Dear Pete! We truly are going to miss you mate! The 25 years we have known you have been a pleasure – just not as a travel buddy or someone to skite about Australia’s supreme cricket abilities.. lol . But you are a genuine person, someone you can rely on, loyal and would help without question. I hope to see you in the afterlife. Lots of love Rick and Jo About Pete. I (Rick) met Pete travelling to South America in 1998. We got on well right from the start, but Pete would get on well with anyone – he would not have a bad word for anyone. We travelled together for about 4 months in a pretty small group – some of the special places we were lucky enough to see – like; the deepest darkest Amazon, Galapagos Islands, Machu Pichu. It was evident he had a deep passion for travel just like myself. To top it off, he loved cricket as well (just supported the wrong national team!) For a good portion of our trip we shared tents/ hotel rooms and I really enjoyed his company. I must admit it, he saved me a few times. Losing my way in some of those South American cities- especially after a wine or two. Later in our South American trip a young lady joined our tour group - her name was Jo. It was Pete that encouraged and helped me get closer to this young lady – Jo, who is now my wife of 22 years with 2 children. So Pete was special in more ways than one. After South America Pete, Jo and I would communicate regularly and as Jo was English we would visit England from Australia every 2 -3 years and would always endeavor to catch up when we were in town. The last time we met up in person was shortly after his big 50! Still the same guy we met up with, all those years earlier. Always non judgmental and willing to help. My wife being a big Arsenal supporter and myself a cricket lover we always got on well. I tell you in the unlikely event that the Poms beat the Aussies in the Ashes this year. I will be smiling and thinking of Pete – either way I will always think back to Pete – he really did enrich our lives in more ways than one. Condolences to Pete’s family and friends. We truly have lost one of the good guys! Rest in peace , Pete … love ya! Rick, Jo and family.
